Epic Rap Battle: Teacher Takes Teen Rapper to School
Blizzard vs Mark Grist: Class is in Session
When 17-year-old Blizzard (Bradley when he's at home) challenged his teacher, Mark Grist, to a rap battle, the warning sign of what lay ahead was that Grist accepted.
Mark Grist isn't just a teacher, but also an author and former poet laureate of Peterborough, and one half of Dead Poets.
Mark Grist delivers three rounds of brutal smackdown, which you can see in the video below: Grist disses Blizzard, Blizzard's mom, World of Warcraft, Twilight, and everything else in Blizzard's Manchester-area world.
The rap battle video below comes to us via Don't Flop. It was posted in December 2011, but is getting new life via Buzzfeed. It's not that Blizzard does a bad job, but he just can't handle Mark Grist: the poet just has too much rhyming experience.
Skip to the 1:30 mark to get straight into it.
Actually, Mark Grist's work reminds me of Baba Brinkman.

Anyone who says that hip hop is summed up by mass-produced gangsta-rap albums, or that rap is a limited style, has no idea what they're talking about. Like any art form, the only real limit is the artist's imagination.

As I watched the video, I found myself laughing more at Mark Grist's witty replies than at "Blizzard's" schoolboy taunts. I really enjoy rap-battles as long as I can understand them - there are too many where the words are unintelligible.
I reluctantly watched "8 Mile" a few years ago with a family member and to my utter surprise, found myself thoroughly enjoying the whole movie. No matter what people think, it is a talent.
For those who have never seen the movie, you can see the trailer here - courtesy of IMDB - (Internet Move Data Base).
Thank you for sharing it with us Jordan :)
