Michael Barrett, an insurance executive from Illinois, has plead to guilty to "interstate stalking" in the Erin Andrews peephole video case, according to Associated Press

Erin Andrews an ESPN reporter was filmed by Michael Barrett through a peephole in hotel rooms where Erin Andrews was staying. Barrett apparently rented rooms adjacent to rooms Andrews was staying in.

Barrett was caught after he uploaded the videos to the internet and tried to sell them to the celbrity site TMZ.

Mr. Barrett accepts full responsibility for his conduct,” said Barrett’s attorney David Willingham. “He apologizes to Ms. Andrews, and expresses his deep regret for his conduct that caused her so much pain. It is his sincere hope that these events can now become an opportunity to make positive changes in his life.”

Michael Barret will have to pay full restitution to Erin Andrews (though it is unclear exactly how much that is). In addition, he is not allowed to come within 100 yards of Andrews or her family.

Erin Andrews was understandably outraged that her privacy was violated.

The prosecutor in the case may ask the judge to impose a harsher penalty in this case.

Iffy

What this man did was wrong in so many ways: a gross violation of Erin's privacy and dignity. Having said that, Erin has absolutely nothing to worry about in terms of her public image: the video shows the world an utterly healthy and beautiful woman with a body to be proud of. She should hold her head high and move on.
