“For every advertised job vacancy there are approximately two unadvertised job opportunities.” by Arnie Sherr

When you learn how to find hidden or unadvertised jobs you create huge advantages and eliminate competition, unveiling new opportunity.

It is estimated, for every advertised vacancy in there are at least two unadvertised opportunities

Think about it; advertising job vacancies is expensive, therefore many companies offer incentives for recommendations to present employees

Locating such jobs requires creative investigation and the implementation of “good ol’ playin’ the odds” game. “Throw enough against the wall and some will stick.”

Creative investigation:

1. Identify target markets of interest.

·        Locate leading companies of interest in each target market

·        Research each company’s products and mission seeking out present challenges involving their competitive environments, products, and global presence (if applicable).

·        Write “White Papers” and a solutions agenda for each company of interest demonstrating analytic skills, problem solving and troubleshooting abilities, and investigative acumen.

·        Forward your customized cover letter, resume, White Paper, and remedy directly to each targeted company’s Vice President of Human Resources (Be sure to follow-up  aggressively).

2. Vertical diversification

·        Examine your KSA’s determining other industries for which you are qualified by education, training, and experience.

·        Forward your customized cover letter, resume, and targeted White Paper directly to each targeted employer’s Vice President of Human Resources (Be sure to follow-up  aggressively).

A good starting point: Locate advertised job postings and search-out their competition.

Utilize surfing skills to find advice of expanding companies. Study the NYSE, NASDAQ, and foreign exchanges (if interests lie in foreign opportunity) identifying company’s experiencing remarkable growth. Such companies always require new blood.

The above are part of an innovative job search agenda known as “Guerilla Marketing.”
