Facebook is getting old! The median age for Facebook users is 33. While so many high school and college students are poking each other, their parents are getting in on the act. That's not as creepy as it sounds. Or maybe it is. Anyway, Twitter is actually younger, with a median age of 31. Maybe because older users have more important things to do than compile lists. Of course, Twitter use is growing across all dempgraphics, so some of those who profess to hate tweeting are still doing it.

Some 19% of internet users now say they use Twitter or another service to share updates about themselves, or to see updates about others.
19% of a lot is... a lot.

In May of 2008, the median age for Facebook was 26. Today, it's 33, a good seven years older.

This will no doubt keep going up as more and more adult mobile phone users turn to smartphones. It's easier to tweet or use Facebook when they're in your pocket while you wait for the train, rather than when you get to work and are bombarded by work-related stuff.

This segment is likely to grow as ever more internet users adopt mobile devices as a primary means of going online.
