fansofcrystalbowersox.com - A Crystal Bowersox Fan Site
Early on during this season of American Idol I thought it might be a wash. But then I started taking notice of Crystal Bowersox. I could see that she was obviously really good. So I dug a little deeper and discovered some of her recordings prior to AI. I found that this young woman really is an amazingly talented singer-songwriter. I was blown away. So much so that I was inspired to actually create a website so that others could learn more about her.
Thus, I'm making the rounds trying to spread the word about the fan site. The site's name is "fansofcrystalbowersox.com."
The site has a blog, forums and YouTube channel. It features videos, news, biography, lyrics to original songs, photo gallery, information about Crystal's musical influences, many links of interest to fans, and much more.
The site is very interactive and community oriented. For example, if folks want to submit their own articles for publication in the blog I'll be willing to entertain putting that material up (as long as it meets some very basic standards). We're always trying to think of ways to improve interactivity, so if you have suggestions about how we can do that better please give us a holler.
We're also interested in bringing out a bit more where Crystal is coming from as an artist, as she has a strong sense of connection with "roots music," i.e., the folk and blues foundations of contemporary pop music.
If you're a Crystal fan please take a moment to check it out. Hopefully you'll like what you see and we'll see you there! Here's the website link:
And there are several parts of the site that are interlinked, so I guess I'll link them here for easy reference: blog, forums, YouTube channel.
Thanks!

Thanks for posting this, and apologies for it taking so long to be publicly visible. To flesh the article out a bit more, I suggest adding some background on Idol fan sites, and how they mobilize viewers. I'd also look into the growing phenomenon of surfing the web and watching TV at the same time (which personally gives me a headache).

Hmm, I'll give some thought to those suggestions...
With respect to how Idol fan sites mobilize viewers, I'll at least follow up at the end of the season (only a month away now) and report on the experience of running such a site during the season. How much of an impact it actually has is hard to measure. I think it's main value is that it provides fans a sense of community, of sharing in a communal experience, as they join in watching someone live out one version of the American Dream. I can write about that.
Maybe others can comment on whether they watch American Idol and interact with fan sites as they watch. I know I don't. I watch the show, then I go to the computer.
