Farrah Fawcett's Private Funeral: Son Redmond O’Neal Will Attend

When Farrah Fawcett is laid to rest on June 30, 2009 her son Redmond O'Neal will be at the service. Farrah Fawcett's private funeral will be held at 4pm PST at the Cathedral of Our Lady Angels in downtown Los Angeles.

The Charlie's Angels star and 1970's pinip girl died on June 25 at the age of 62 after a three year battle with cancer. The last time Farrah Fawcett saw her son Redmond was two months earlier, on April 25, 2009.

Farrah Fawcett was born Mary Farrah Leni Fawcett on February 2, 1947, in Corpus Christi, Texas. Raised Catholic, Fawcett attended Catholic school from kindergarten to grade six but went to public school for her high school years.

After a brief marriage to fellow 1970's star Lee Majors which ended in divorce, Farrah Fawcett vowed to never remarry. It is unclear if her Catholic faith had anything to do with the decision as but her marriage was never annulled by the Church which would be required for her to re-wed.

As Farrah Fawcett was on her death bed rumors that she would marry long-time love Ryan O'Neal surfaced, but she died before that could happen. Her family, friends and loved ones will say their final goodbyes at the Cathedral of Our Lady Angels.

He will be escorted by two deputies and a sergeant and will be allowed to stay for the entire service. The younger O’Neal will also be permitted to wear a suit to the service instead of his jail uniform, MSNBC.com reports. Whether or not he will be forced to wear handcuffs will be decided tomorrow, Los Angeles County Sheriff department spokesperson Steve Whitmore told Access Hollywood.

The last time O’Neal saw his mother before her death was on April 25 during a court-approved three-hour visit, which was documented in the late actress’ NBC documentary “Farrah’s Story.”

My prayers are with you dear Redmond...look to your "Higher Power" for strength and healing... I will pray for you, and always be your friend...my number is on your mom's verizon bill........J...look at New Years Eve................

Thanks for the news, Tina. It is fitting that Redmond will be allowed to attend his mom's funeral. I was sorry to know that he missed being at her bedside with others who loved her to say final goodbyes. I hope authorities do not make him wear handcuffs at the solemn farewell ceremony. People should not be so cruel, even to people who made mistakes. Try a little tenderness.
