FILM REVIEW: RED RIDING HOOD STARRING AMANDA SEYFRIED
This is NOT Twilight. Repeat: This is NOT Twilight. Catherine Hardwicke directed the first Twilight movie and the trailers for Red Riding Hood have done a wonderful job of reminding people. But it is a mistake. This film has very little in common with that franchise. There's a love triangle and a werewolve. That's where the similarties end. Red Riding Hood has more in common with Tim Burton's Sleepy Hollow than any other movie. Both are visually stunning and both re-tool a classic tale into a mystery involving family secrets and creepy townspeople. In this version of the fairly tale, Little Red Riding Hood is a teenage girl who has been promised to a rich man, but she is in love with someone else. However, there is no time to worry about such matters. There's a werewolve on the loose and it has already killed her sister. And now it is after her. Since the entire town is a suspect, including those close to her, then who can she trust?
