Martti Ahtisaari Nobel

Finland's former president, Matti Ahtisaari has received Nobel peace prize 2008. Mr. Ahtisaari has been a possible winner several times earlier.

Mr. Ahtisaari has worked at Aceh and with  Kosovo. A week ago he received the UNESCO Peace Prize.

Previously three Finns have received Nobel prize.

1939 Frans Emil Sillanpää, literature

"for his deep understanding of his country's peasantry and the exquisite art with which he has portrayed their way of life and their relationship with nature"

1945 Artturi I. Virtanen, chemistry

"for his research and inventions in agricultural and nutrition chemistry, especially for his fodder preservation method"

1967 Ragnar A. Granit, physiology

"for their discoveries concerning the primary physiological and chemical visual processes in the eye"

Pasi, I like this story. Not sure who the guy is or what he really has done, but if he has really helped solve a war dispute then he should most definatly recieved a prize. But normally the prize is given to those that do not really deserve one. But those that do deserve the prize certainly get applause from me.
