There will be no parole for Mark David Chapman, the man who killed songwriter John Lennon twenty-eight years ago. Chapman was denied parole for the fifth time on Tuesday, as New York's parole board declared that he is "not compatible with the welfare of society at large." Chapman is serving a life sentence for the 1980 murder of John Lennon but, even behind bars, his infamy and notoriety continue.

Mark David Chapman, the man convicted of murdering John Lennon outside the former Beatle's Manhattan apartment building in 1980, was denied a request for parole Tuesday, New York prison authorities said.

The two-member New York State Board of Parole said in its brief decision that discretional release for Chapman, 53, is "not compatible with the welfare of society at large."

The board said Chapman's release "would tend to deprecate the seriousness" of the crime he committed "and undermine respect for the law."

It called Lennon's murder "a horrendously tragic event which has impacted many individuals."

Chapman was sentenced to life imprisonment in 1981 for Lennon's murder, but became eligible for parole after 20 years.

In 1990, Chapman expressed his remorse for having shot Lennon to death but his first parole request in 2000 was denied because board members said he still had the same desire for "fame and notoriety" that led to the murder.

Tuesday was the fifth time Chapman was denied parole, after refusals in 2000, 2002, 2004 and 2006. He is serving his time in Attica maximum security prison in northern New York state.

I can't remember the Beatles' cartoon where they used the music to "Woman is the Nigger of the World"....I must have missed that one.

This murderous man not only ended  our nations hero and friends life, but he also left John's youngest son ,Shawn'..aprox. age 5 yrs at the time without  a daddy he's been extremely close to and depended upon there love and life together, along with YOKO ONO ,Johns now widow and his oldest son,Julian.John was murdered without "provocation" and stood there inocently just seconds after arriving outside his home at New York City's Dakota apartment building, while his dear and beloved wife watched from nearby in a dreadfull state of horror! It was to most of us as if we'd experienced a feeling of "this can't be real".....Who on earth would want to purposely shoot John Lennon....? John was after all a man who worked  very hard at trying to bring the world together for Peace.....What kind of maniac would commit such a haness crime?Chapman also ended the pleasure for the whole world of having John Lennon and his ongoing musical and other caring talents, works and efforts of being with us  and sharing his karma and positive energy no more...I often wonder ,..."What if"....What if  John had lived..../ What if...." this had never happened.....what would the world and Johns family be like now....? Removing  or changing one even seeminly small thing within this world and universe can cause a change  and /or  for lives to takeon a different path  than what might not have happened  and so forth.I  like so many others share a deepened heartfelt  place  and a loss for John Lennon in our hearts and minds...John was and forever will be a ledgend, idol and hero...He's someone I've always looked up to and was proud to share this space on this planet with him. ...........May John be rockin' out in Heaven and making it a better place till we come join him there.....In my most Loving memories of John Lennon, God Bless us everyone.....Missy Daniels
