FlashForward Cancelled: Last Episode to Air May 27 2010
ABC's FlashForward Has Been Cancelled Due to Low TV Ratings
If you were a fan of FlashForward you will be upset to learn that ABC has cancelled the show due to poor ratings and when the last episode airs on May 27 that will be the last one for good.
With a show that started off with so much promise, it really hit a few snags along the way. Most fans did not understand why there was such a long break between November and March and for a show that relied heavily on story-flow and intricate details, that four month break meant that most of us could not remember what had happened by the time the show came back on in 2010.
Many critics also blasted the show for too many characters and trying to tell too many story lines. The idea of the show was a good one but with so many stories running in to each other and then getting left behind it was often very difficult to keep track of who was doing what or who was on each side.
FlashForward was meant to be one of the replacements for Lost after the series ends in a few weeks, but as ABC realized, this story does not even come close to the production of Lost and in no way will replace it.
Now we'll just have to wait for another TV show.
ABC also canceled Scrubs, Better off Ted, and Romantically challenged.

This is just another example of the dumbing down of society in the world today...Couldn't follow plot lines....too many characters...really??? Well why the hell is LOST on the air? Not to mention LOST was filmed a lot on location in Hawaii...Flash Forward was film mostly on Sound Stages..."Idiocracy" is a good movie for people to watch that couldn't follow a great show like Flash Forward...the movie will explain to the simpletons that couldn't follow Flash Forward where this world is headed

"Jericho" averaged 12 million viewers during the fall and was the first new show of 2006 to be extended for the full season. But then CBS held it out for three months. When it finally returned, viewership dropped to 8 million.ABC repeated that mistake with "Flash Forward". You simply can't take a new show, especially a complex one, off the air for the entire winter season and expect viewers to come back. FOX recognized that "24" lost viewership in its first season after being held out for just a few weeks. That network moved to protect its new drama, starting the second season in November in order to let it run through May with very little interruption. If FOX had blown it and kept "24" off the air for three months in mid-season, that show likely wouldn't have made it past its freshman season either.

As a fan of science and theoretical physics this show was an exciting, well written , slightly overacted (Finnes) and original favor to our society and to my evening viewing. Sure the excuses of a long break affecting the viewership is worth noting BUT this show's "wow" factor alone should have warranted a summer re-airing of each episode at a few regular slots including one late late airing to draw in viewers that just didn't catch it and then give season 2 a chance to snowball in the late fall. Society is not that "dumbed" down I just think the show was victim of a series of issues. Perhaps a 9PM or 10PM time slot would have worked better. AFTER the dull hospital drama Grey's Anatomy or on another evening. After V? Try conquering one evening and cornering Tuesday's or Wednesday. Only a fool would see the ratings drop as a sign that this show was a flop! This show was interesting in that it showed you the future and yet it was still unpredictable. Titanic was a success and you knew the ending before it started.. go figure?Aside from not having my fall line-up determined I am also disappointed because I really wanted to see what the heck could possibly reboot season two after the first Black Out played out. Was it just another Black Out? (yawn) or something original again? And not Lost original... I never got into Lost but I saw it as a potential rent-all view in a month or two winter boredom thing. Then by flipping through the channels and catching bits of this season I never want to see any of it. Talk about a show grasping at straws!Fox is out an action drama on Monday night (24) ... hint hint!

Dude, the offending network is ABC, but point taken. It is too complex a show for 8pm. They should have put it after Grey's Anatomy and moved Private Practice to another night.

Well ..... once again, a handful of corporate 'big shots' sat around and decided WHAT the general public should watch! No matter that Flash Forward was actually worth watching - far better than most of the dribble that stays on for years and years! When will we (the TV audience) ever get to choose what we want to watch??

Maybe a cable network run by more intelligent human beings, like say the Sci-Fi channel, could pick up the Flash Forward series. It has happened before.

Perhaps the time has come for pay TV that works. How about finding sponsors for the first year and then put it out there for the public to subscribe to. You might be surprised at the results. I suspect we will get better programming that gets supported with no advertising middlemen. Public television has been doing it for years. This is the same but with a pay for view feature. Seems to me everyone would win. The way that series programming has been going I will begin to take a hard look at watching a series that is not a series but rather becomes a disappointment. I may even question whether I want to purchase the brand that has withdrawn their support to the series. People take back your power.

There are so few shows on the air that challenge you to think. I guess they will replace Flashforward with another romantic dramedy. They should have tried to team it up with V and had a sci-fi night. Well any how ,I hope everyone who cares signs some sort of petition . Honestly I can not belive how sad I am that this show is leaving.

This is pretty sad to me. You have stupid shows like the bachelor/bachelorette, survivor, and some of the other crappy reality tv shows that have been cluttering the airways for what seems like eons. But when something new and fresh like flashforward comes around, the geniuses at ABC decide to put it on hold for 3 months, while viewers are forced to try to remember the premise. I must admit, as a fan, I did not miss a beat when it cranked up again. Point is ABC, you just acted like the prom date who made the big promise to us, but then did not deliver. I am not a big time tv viewer, so after May 27, my tv viewing is going to again be limited to sports. Thanks Flashforward for the nice run, and hopefully another network will pick you up.

We are not Morons as you have suggested thank you tv execs.

I can't believe it will end like this.. we will never get the answer that we where looking for at the beginning... I even has some friends in Australia watching this show.. what gives... makes me not to want to catch now... I've been so far behind.. and didn't want to watch one without waching all the others before it.. to mess up the plot.. but now I think. to myself.. what is the sense... Stupid move on thier part.. and to think I don't watch much TV now.. and this and V brough me back.. I'm just waiting for them to pull V now.. they have till September to deside.. and change thier minds.. If they pull this one. I can see it coming.. Kinda of reminds me of Knight Rider 2000 Poof it's gone..

I just found out that my favorite show has been canceled! I usually only watch ESPN and Fox News, but I became hooked on 24, then Flash Forward. And honestly, Flash Forward became my favorite show! How could it possibly be canceled? I know so many people who watch it! Please bring it back somehow, somewhere! Otherwise, I'll go back to watching just ESPN and other sports channels, and Fox News. This will be a big loss for all viewers -- and for ABC! That network will be sorry!

I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS IS BEING CANCELLED. I AM SO UPSET! I WILL SERIOUSLY LOVE ANY NETWORK THAT PICKS UP THE SHOW, OR I WILL LOVE ABC IF THEY CONTINUE THIS. ME AND MY FRIENDS AT SCHOOL LIVE FOR THURSDAY NIGHTS BECAUSE OF FLASHFORWARD

I just finished watching the last episode. I was so excited to see whats coming up next that i googled the next season. TO MY SURPRISE I FIND OUT THAT FLASHFORWARD IS CANCELED!!!????? WHAT THE HELL??!! This was by far my favorite show. Had your mind always racing and thinking of new possibilities. I really looked forward to Thursdays, it was like my new Fridays. ABC better bring this back or another station. We should all try to do something to get their attention and letting them know what an amazing show this was.Now my weeks are going to go by slower. THANKS A LOT ABC...NOT!

Are you kidding me? The first time in years I have gotten involved in a worthwhile storyline. I want to know what corporate yahoo makes this decision for me! I love this show, its the best one on TV! I hate most of what is on the air and they seem to go on and on forever! What about all the trash reality shows that seem to never be affected by ratings. I know I am so tired of Lost and the like. I never got into watching Lost merely because it is another soap opera at night. Flashforward has substance and the acting is great. I looked forward to the Thursday night airing, it made my week. My question is what can we do to stop this from happening?
at 03:39 on May 31st, 2010
I just hope in someones Flashforward they made a final season to put on dvd. This is why I don't watch theses shows every time one comes on I like it gets taken off.
at 15:18 on May 31st, 2010
Finally a show with a complex plot where you have to pay attention to detail. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed this show. Unfortunately the networks are honoring all of the nit wits watching the bachelor, Dancing with the stars and The biggest loser.

This was THE BEST SHOW I HAVE EVER WATCHED!!!! why did they cancel it!!!
at 19:20 on June 3rd, 2010
Like many others, I can't believe that such an exciting , gripping series has been cancelled. The storyline was fresh and intriguing, and the acting was superb. It reminded me of the quality programmes one usually associates with coming from Britain. Too bad the network caters only to the lowest common denominator when choosing their programmes.

PLEASE bring back Flash Forward! It was such a great show! PLEASE PLEASE bring it back!!!!
at 13:01 on June 4th, 2010
I am like the others very disappointed in ABC for canceling "Flash Forward" This show really caught my eye, i enjoyed it so much that i would find myself watching it every Thursday night! I thought the layoff during the winter months when we don't have anything to do but watch tv hurt the show. Without the layoff the show would be going into it's second season this Fall. ABC has really turn me away from watching anything they put over the air! Bring "Flash Forward" BACK!!!!
at 18:08 on June 5th, 2010
I stopped watching TV on 2008 to dedicate more time to personal projects. It was mainly because of Flash Forward that I got interested in watching TV again. I hope another network buys the series.
at 19:02 on June 5th, 2010
I hate that you cancelled Flash Forward. I loved that show.
at 03:47 on June 19th, 2010
Bring Back JERICHO!!!!!!! you can't take both Jericho and Flash Forward from me AFTER LOST is off the air!!!! Now all I have is Fringe and Stargate Universe... AND AND AND Steven Segal Law Man is not on anymore... what the hell! AND Survivors on BBC America is not on anymore.. GOD!!! I just realized how depressing this all is! Now I will have to do P90X 2 times a day to kill the time!
at 20:50 on June 20th, 2010
The decision makers at ABC must not have realized that Flash Forward had the same day and time slot as a very (I hate to admit it) intriguing season of Survivor. If Flash Forward had been on any other day of the week or if the Heros vs Villians Survivor was not on, its TV ratings would have been fine. I was very much looking forward to next season too. Shame on you ABC.
