According to the www.ipcc.gov.uk's press release ' a third man has been charged in connection with the use of the Metropolitan Police’s corporate American Express charge cards.

Former Detective Sergeant, John Gallagher, aged 52, was charged on 24 June with misconduct in public office between 15 November 2005 and 31 December 2007.

He has been bailed to attend the City of London Magistrates Court on 8 July 2008.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission is dealing with 21 referrals from the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) regarding officers' use of their American Express charge cards. The cards were issued for the officers while on official business"

OPINION

I am not really surprised about this, some of them just seem to think they can get away with things just because they've been a police officer. Whether there will be justice in the end on 8 July is another thing as the 'police seem to stick together'. I remember when I was younger my vicar, was an ex police officer and he ran off with the church funds and then he became a burglar sales man.. how did that happen? The Police Application forms go on for ages and it is bizarre how they would want to risk their reputation, so some background to the story would be useful, and maybe there will be some news after the court case.

some officials in top office sometime feel that they are above the law and that they can get away with everything , on the case of the MEP's they think tax payers like myself don't have anything better to do than paying for their credit card bills, they should pay every penny with 200% interest or face jail.
