RIP to Klaus Dinger, one of the founding fathers of that most expansive and strange genre, krautrock.  Have a listen to Kraftwerk and Neu! for a primer.
Klaus Dinger, a founding member of Kraftwerk and co-founder of Neu!, has died at the age of 61.

The influential drummer died of heart failure on March 20, and his burial took place amongst a private circle of family and friends, according to a statement released today (April 2) by Neu!'s record label Gronland.

Dinger was known as one of the founding fathers of krautrock. His drumming style called 'motorik', which features a propulsive, almost surf-like repetitious groove, has influenced several contemporary bands.
