NP Rank:
Former MD of the National Variety asked to return
This week it was reported that Alex Maine, former Managing Director of the National Variety Performance UK was asked to retake his position in the organisation. These reports came yesterday when a email header and subtext was spotted on a screenshot of his desktop which was posted on TwtPic. The email revealed that he had been requested to fly back to the UK to discuss the opportunity.
The National Variety Performance was setup in 2003 and was created as a face for many of the community events that Alex and his company were running. After Alex stopped freelancing as an event manager he continued his work with the NVP until early 2007. The last project which took place as part of the NVP was the Weymouth Factor in the summer of 2006. Since then the organisation has been inactive but it seems that other directors that worked alongside Alex wish to continue the work. I have made several attempts to contact the other directors but have been unable to get a response.
Alex is currently in Nova Scotia, Canada with his Canadian partner. According to his Twitter account he is attending an interview for a Community Stream Visa this coming Wednesday which has left many to speculate that he turned down the position.
After this article was wrote Alex Maine made an official statement on his blog.
