Neologisms such as Frenemy, locavore, and vlog have officially become English-language words, according to Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary.
Among the 100 new additions to the dictionary are:
Frenemy: an emeny who acts like a friend
Vlog: video blog
Locavore: one who eats locally-grown food
Shawarma: mediterranean shaved-meat sandwich
Staycation: time off from work spent at home due to recession
Sock puppet: deceptive duplcate online identity( and NP TOS violation)
John Morse, president and publisher of the Springfield-based dictionary publisher, said many of this year's new words are tied to changes in technology, increasing environmental awareness and aging baby boomers' concerns about their health and have become part of the general lexicon.
In this sense, the dictionary isn't so much teh arbiter of "real" words, but a faithful recorder of which words have demonstrably entered the popular parlance.

I invented a great "neologism" (a new word to me!) How would one go about getting this fabulous word in your dictionary? My word is "hormotional:" meaning an emotional breakdown directly related to hormone issues.
