Game of Thrones: The History of the Starks, Lannisters, Targaryens, & More

Hey, Dire Wolf fans... here is a link to some geektastic and rather educational backstory videos. Originally appearing as a special feature on the Game of Thrones Season 1 DVDs, these cool little animated features, voiced by actors from the series, get into the histories of:

House Stark
House Lannister
House Targaryen (before they evolved into Team Dragon Mama)
The Night's Watch
The Sack of King's Landing (not talking about Joffrey, by the way)
The Field of Fire

... and so many more.

There are 27 Game of Thrones featurette videos. One of my favorites was the making of the opening credits. Such fine work, all destroyed by Melisandre's butt.

To be honest, I didn't find these videos to be that useful for following the show, even as Season 2 gets more complicated... but they were really fun to watch, and they're short enough to enjoy at work. Or so I would imagine.
