Gamers to line up for Gears of Wars 2
The much anticipated game, Gears of Wars 2 for the Xbox 360 is scheduled for release on November 7th, 2008. The midnight launch is expecting huge lineups at Future Shop and Best Buy for all the gamers who has to be the first ones to own the game and first to write up a Gears of Wars 2 walkthrough.
Although Gears of Wars 2 is heavily anticipated, people in the business believes the release of World of Warcraft: The Wrath of the Lich King which is also due for a midnight release on Wednesday will be more popular.
The release of the Gears of War 2 game for the Xbox 360 is expected to create long lineups when Future Shop and Best Buy open their doors at midnight to officially launch sales.
"I know there will be a huge lineup because there usually is for midnight releases. Fans have been coming in and asking about the release for the past three months, so we are expecting a big turnout," said Christopher Knoll, 19, a video game expert at Future Shop.
Bloggers are all making plans to join in on the Gears of Wars 2 - Midnight Mayhem which is taking place in Los Angeles, London, New York, and Bellevue, WA where producers, writers, and comic book artists will be signing autographs and answering questions.
Here's a quick recap of what's going on tonight with the launch of Gears of War 2. Chris and I will be heading to the Bellevue event so if you're braving the elements like we will be (come on, it's GEARS 2!) then come say hi!
However in Toronto and Vancouver, there will be no celebrations and events out of respect for Brandon Crisp. Future Shop and Best Buy will still be open to sell the game, but nothing of a celebration.
Future Shop just got in touch to say they're cancelling the festivities surrounding tonight's midnight launch of Gears Of War 2 in Toronto and Vancouver, out of respect for the friends and family of teen gamer Brandon Crisp. Future Shop stores will still be opening at midnight to sell the game (except in Quebec and bylaw-bound Sudbury, Ont.), there just won't be any of the planned hoopla at the flagship stores in T-dot and Van.
