The vocal horde on the internet have spoken and one of the most iconic brands in America has listened. The Gap dropped its old logo around October 6th and replaced it with a new Gap logo - outraging whoever its outraged by these sorts of things.
“Ok. We’ve heard loud and clear that you don’t like the new logo. We’ve learned a lot from the feedback,” the company said on its Facebook Page. “We only want what’s best for the brand and our customers. So instead of crowdsourcing, we’re bringing back the Blue Box tonight.”
According to Gap, the original logo will make its return “across all channels.
The contemporary equivalents of Don Draper must be shaking in their boots. Now ad and design agencies have new arbiters of taste the traveling packs who are passionate about logos Here is a quick sample of what people said about the the new Gap logo which will be scrapped.
I’ve seen high school design students do better. The gradient of the logo really cheapens the overall identity and it lacks any sort of strength or visual interest. The font says nothing, well it does say something… boring.
