Gawker is getting its users to do all the work, and bring it new story ideas via a Twitter-esque "tips" box where one would expect to see a site's search tool.

Who the hell does Gawker think it is, NowPublic?!

In all, it’s similar to the flourishing body politic on sites like Digg and Reddit, in which stories are culled from myriad sources (be they online, at work or in the neighborhood) and parsed by desk chair critics.

Ah, yes... turning it over to the teeming anonymous masses... what could possibly go wrong? I hope the moderators are really into looooooong queues of spam. I really do.

And what's with the hashtag?
Seriously, guys.
Do you really need to copy Twitter on that one?

(Hint: No)
