GAYS HOLD A PARADE AND PICNIC IN CITY OF VENTURA, CA.

    The Gays and Lesbians in the Ventura, CA area hold a parade and picnic afterward in downtown Ventura, CA.  The parade was down Main St., Ventura, CA.  And the picnic was in Mission Park in downtown Ventura, across from the Mission San Buenaventura.  A little ironic since the Catholic Church has not exactly been happy about having equal rights for Gays and Lesbians.

The theme was "Vote against Prop. 8" which will be on the ballot in CA in November.  Prop 8 seeks to overturn the decision by the CA Supreme Court, which overturned the Ban on Gay Marriage in CA.  There has been a lot of Gay marriages in CA since the ban was overturned.  One of the most notable marriages has been Ellen Degeneres to her long time partner.

The speakers at the picnic were asking everyone to support Senator Obama, who they assume will be their ally in their fight for equal rights.   One of the speakers said, "If you are planning on voting Republican, you can leave now."
