With a name like Gene, one would think you would be safe against mistaken identity. But, it was not the case when British actress Jean Simmons passed away on January 22. Spartacus star Jean Simmons died of lung cancer at the age of 80. But, as the news of Jean Simmons's death spread on Twitter, the confusion was bound to happen. Thousands of KISS fans around the globe must have started to hyperventilate, thinking it was Gene not Jean Simmons who was dead. "Gene Simmons RIP" messages started to infiltrate Twitter before people realized it was the "wrong" Simmons. However, the murmur about the alleged Gene Simmons death is still ongoing.

While Gene Simmons's whereabouts are not presently known, as recently as January 14 Gene Simmons was seen at the NAMM trade show of musical instruments, where he was promoting his GS-AXE-2 bass guitar.
