Genevieve Waite, Mackenzie Phillips' former stepmother, denounces the sexual relationship between Mamas and the Papas frontman John Phillips and Mackenzie Phillips after the actress told Oprah Winfrey that she had an incestuous relationship with her father.
Waite had this to say:
"I am stunned by Mackenzie's terrible allegations about her father," Waite wrote. "I would often complain about her overly familiar attitudes towards him, and he said it was just her way. John was a good man. ... He was incapable, no matter how drunk or drugged he was, to have sexual relations with his own child."
Michelle Phillips, John Phillips' second wife, also stated that she was stunned by the claims, and that what Mackenzie has said is very hurtful for their family.
Chyna Phillips however, Mackenzie's half-sister, confirmed earlier that she knew of the ten-year affair because Mackenzie told her about ten years ago.
Mackenzie Phillips however, says that she does not hate her dad at all.

Well, there are reasons – she's one of the darlings of the hipster/model types, she's engaged to Danny Masterson, aka Hyde from That 70s Show, she has a lot of on-set tantrums – oh yeah, did we mention her dad was John Phillips, from the Mamas and the Papas? Supposedly, Mackenzie Phillips, her elder half sister by over 20 years, is going to reveal some huge family secret on Oprah – but who cares? Honestly, no one out of this Phillips camp has been making waves for some time, now – and another sister of hers, Chynna, was the Phillips part of Wilson Phillips. Many would give low interest loans to not have to hear inane banter about Bijou Phillips ever again.
