George Lopez Commercials Driving People Nuts
The George Lopez commercials airing during the MLB postseason games on TBS is this year's version of the extremely unpopuplar FrankTV ads that ran during last year's postseason. Commercials for "Lopez Tonight", airing 11PM on TBS, have been repeated over and over again ad nauseam during TBS' coverage of the MLB postseason.
This formula of spamming sports viewers with repetitive spots about some hot new hit show that's coming soon has been tried over and over again by every single one of the major professional sports in North America. And it has resulted in pissing off a significant amount of sports fans each and every time.
Remember the NBA playoffs games on TNT last May? I refuse to ever watch a single second of The Closer primarily because of the 400 plus times that I was forced to watch the same exact 10 seconds footage of Kyra Sedgewick over and over again. I don't care if I have a DVR. You can't skip past all the commercials!
Last year we had nothing but Frank TV spots jammed down our throats to the point where it was impossible not to hate the guy. It’s nothing personal against Caliendo because he’s a talented, humorous comedian, but the bosses at TBS need to understand that enough’s enough — feeling like one of those whack-a-moles at the arcade sucks. Last year they ruined Frank Caliendo for me and now they’re doing the same thing by wearing out George Lopez.
