In 1967, this painting set a world record when sold. The National Gallery of Art bought Ginevra from the Princely House of Liechtenstein for $5million. It was displayed in the Liechtenstein family home in Vienna until 1939/40 and then secreeted in Vaduz (the principality remained neutral during the war). It was one of only three Leonardo paintings in a private collection.
Can two Titians really be worth £100,000,000 ($182,000,000)?
