In 1967, this painting set a world record when sold. The National Gallery of Art bought Ginevra from the Princely House of Liechtenstein for $5million. It was displayed in the Liechtenstein family home in Vienna until 1939/40 and then secreeted in Vaduz (the principality remained neutral during the war). It was one of only three Leonardo paintings in a private collection.
Can two Titians really be worth £100,000,000 ($182,000,000)?

It's ok, Zichi ... I still can't understand why everybody gangs up on everybody else in a situation like this. Amy and PEP seemed to be taking care of it in asking for more justification for the piece ...
IMHO, It might be well for many of us lesser beings to call upon our inner fortitude and do our best to resist the natural impulse to pile-on like it's a Rugby scrum, and let the more exhalted ones who are minding the shop take care of business ...
See how well my Soma is working ?

Can you explain more of what your story is about and why you are publishing it now?

See "Duke of Sutherland's Titians", and "Portrait of Bianca Sforza" just posted. Leonardo da Vinci is still making big news, 'four years after Dan Brown'! The news item about the Titians is, in my opinion, more about the Duke of Sutherland's desire for a bucket load of money than it is about two beautiful paintings. He needs the publicity to get the money he wants! I guess I'm just being cynical about the perceived value of 450 year old paintings!

I guess I'm still confused as to how this piece as a stand alone piece fits into a news website. Maybe you need to link to the article you're referring to?

As much as I love art, I don't see how this fits into a news website. Is there a news hook? If not, it's just a posting of a piece of art that someone likes--and that isn't news. Please, a link to a current news story of some type.

Please stop arguing between each other. I am sure 'sherlock' won't want to read all these argumentative comments on his story.
