Girl, 16, fighting for life after being shot in the head

Yet another teenage shooting in the UK. Gun and knife crime continues to dominate news in relation to young people. This shooting is in Manchester, one of the areas along with London, Nottingham and Birmingham that have been identified as hot-spots for these types of crime though in truth this rise in violent crime affects most areas of the UK.



A 16-year-old girl is fighting for her life today after being shot in the head.


The girl, known locally as Sophie Finucane, is said to be in a critical condition, following the shooting just after 6am in Manchester.


Greater Manchester Police said that they were called to an address in Gorton, Manchester, shortly after 6am today following reports of a shooting.


Sophie was found with a gunshot wound to the head.


A 19-year-old man, believed to be her boyfriend, was arrested nearby on suspicion of attempted murder.
