Glee - Home April 27: Song List & Episode Summary, Chenoweth
Musically, this week’s newest episode of Glee was in stark contrast to last week’s celebration of the pop genre - a Madonna-only episode. This episode instead celebrated classic theatre tunes and Broadway favorites, including "Home" from The Wiz. Making a welcomed return in this episode, Kristin Chenoweth (April Rhoads) performed a number of stunning solos and duets.
Glee Episode Summary
Sadness and pride were the two major themes of the episode, and tears were shed by a number of characters. It seems that the entire cast finally had some much needed expression of emotion. Even football star Finn Hudson (Cory Monteith) struggled over moving on after his father’s death while Mr.Schuster struggles over being alone.
Chris Colfer (Kurt) and Amber Riley (Mercedes) both had a prominent role in the episode, both sharing their struggles of feeling accepted. The pair was not only featured in a main acting role, but each also had an emotional solo to share with the audience. Lea Michele (Rachael) had a surprisingly minor roll in this episode, seemingly only present to reiterate her relationship with new beau Jesse St. James (Jonathan Groff), and had no major singing parts.
“The New Directions is clearly a club that is dearth of direction. Rachael and Jesse refuse to accept that all of us would rather die than allow them to become the next Beyonce and Jay-Z,” quoted Kurt.

It was great to see both Colfer and Riley do more than act as set dressing or supporting characters. They are both identifiable as high school stereotypes and perhaps two of the more talented cast members. Oh, and who wouldn't want to see Chenoweth each and every week? Bless her alcohol drenched little heart!
