Grand Theft Auto V Trailer: Return to San Andreas
Grand Theft Auto V Trailer Goes Live
The trailer for Rockstar North's Grand Theft Auto V has gone live. As with GTA IV, the world of the game is gorgeous and highly-detailed. The newest installment of the Grand Theft Auto series returns us to San Andreas (an analog for Los Angeles), where, as with GTA protagonists of the past, our hero just can't seem to avoid a life of crime.
What will be the ethnicity of the Grand Theft Auto 5 protagonist? We only ask because the game designers don't tend to go with the same type of protagonist twice in a row.
GTA: Vice City featured Ray Liotta as Tommy Vercetti, a white guy transplanted to a fictionalized Miami. GTA: San Andreas featured CJ, an African-American ex-gang member voiced by Young Maylay. Grand Theft Auto IV featured Niko Bellic, an Eastern European immigrant voiced by Michael Hollick; Niko's nationality is never clarified in the game, but he speaks Serbian.
The series has yet to feature a Latino or Asian main character.
The trailer references home foreclosures, high-rise construction, illegal immigration, and shiny red convertibles.
