The Grateful Dead (those bandmembers who are still alive), Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, the Black Crowes and String Cheese Incident will headline at the Rothbury 2009 music festival,  July 2 - July 5.

Rothbury 2009 is the second of what is sure to become a hugely successful annual festival held in Rothbury, Michigan.

The concert boasts a strong environmental awareness and considers itself a sustainable event.  The Rothbury Festival site FAQ includes a lengthy explanation of the festival's sustainability initiatives.

Early Bird tickets for the concert were hot sellers on Saturday March 14, 2009 even though the headliners had not yet been announced. Early Bird tickets sold at a $20 savings, $229 verses the $249 regular ticket price.  Regular ticket sales begin Friday March 20, 2009.

The first ever Rothbury festival was held in 2008 north of Muskegon, Michigan at the Double JJ Ranch.  Headliners at the premier event included Dave Matthews, John Mayer, and Snoop Dogg.

Other artists on the Rothbury roster include: The String Cheese Incident, Damian 'Jr. Gong' Marley & Nas, Gov't Mule, Guster, Girl Talk, Mstrkrft, Martin Sexton, Flogging Molly, Railroad Earth, Zappa Plays Zappa and more.

In addition to the 66 acts listed at the Rothbury 2009 Web site, organizers say more performers are to be announced.

About 40,000 music fans turned out last summer for the first music festival at the now-bankrupt Double JJ Ranch north of Muskegon.

The inaugural event featured Dave Matthews, John Mayer, Widespread Panic, Snoop Dogg, Phil Lesh, The Black Keys, Primus and The Wailers.
