Gratitude Week Raises Awareness for Homelessness

On my way to work this week, I noticed several people holding signs with messages like "I have a home", "I feel loved", and "I have hope". They were just standing there all along West Georgia smiling at people and cars as they passed by.

After noticing them on Monday and Tuesday, the curiosity finally got to me this morning and I had to ask, "what is this all about?" A young man holding a sign "I was warm and dry last night", explained that they were promoting Gratitude Week to End Homelessness which is happening from October 12-16 in front of the Vancouver Art Gallery and in various downtown locations. The concept behind the campaign is to say to Vancouver, if you have something to be grateful for, please do one thing to help put an end to homelessness.

Participate, Spread the Word, Donate.

So, with this post, I am doing my part and helping to spread the word.

Aha! I was wondering why they were out there. Thanks for the post.

Great campaign...it's nice to see something original come out of Vancouver. Be sure to check out the video--I think it gets the message across beautifully.
