Great Scott! Back to the Future Turns 25.
Woah, Doc. That's heavy! Is Back to the Future really a quarter century old? Time sure flies when you're busy hanging out with Darth Vader from the planet Vulcan. And what would the world of pop culture be without this masterpiece from director Robert Zemeckis and producer Steven Spielberg? The idea of not telling someone to make like a tree and get out of here is depressing.
Back to the Future, for those who've been stuck in 1955, is about a teenager named Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) who travels 30 years into the past to fix his loser parents while they were in high school. He is aided by mad scientist Dr. Emmett Brown (Christopher Lloyd). The film is mostly a comedy with science fiction and fantasy elements, but it also manages to be an edge of your seat thrill ride. No one is exaggerating when they say that Back to the Future has one of the most exciting climaxes in cinema history.
It also has one of the most lasting impacts. Back to the Future is as relevant today as it was 25 years ago. Everything about it is iconic. So, honor this masterpiece during the 4th of July weekend by playing Huey Lewis' The Power of Love and Back in Time at your party. And don't forget Johnny B Goode. You may not be ready for it, but your kids will love it.
