Green Day Performs 21 Guns At Grammys: American Idiot Musical
Last night at the 2010 Grammys, Green Day gave a stellar performance of their rock anthem "21 Guns" as a preview of their upcoming American Idiot Musical. Green Day were joined on stage by a huge ensemble from the Green Day broadway musical cast. The result was a resounding chorus of harmonies and an overall much more lively rendition of "21 Guns" featuring lead female vocalists. Green Day also won the Best Rock Album Award last night at the Grammys.
At the Grammy Awards on Sunday night (January 31), Green Day gave the world a preview of the musical based on their 2004 album American Idiot. Singing along with the cast of the show coming soon to Broadway, Billie Joe Armstrong and the band busted out "21 Guns," a cut off 21st Century Breakdown, which won the Best Rock Album Grammy.
The American Idiot Musical will begin previews in late March with productions at the Manhattan's St. James Theatre beginning March 24 2010. The Green Day musical will officially open on April 20. The Berkeley Repertory Theater will host the Green Day musical's first run in September 2010. The musical, directed by Tony winner Michael Mayer, will tell a story of love, war, and the loss that accompanies both. The musical will feature Green Day songs from American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown.
