Guns, Violence, Social Networking, and Photos

Begin rant:

Whether it be driving without your headlights on down 71 at 9 p.m. at night OR just posting ridiculous pictures of yourself posing in very, *ahem* STUPID and RIDICULOUS ways.

These coming only days after 6 people were killed by a cold blooded killer with a history of past violence on Cleveland's "west side".

Please note: I do NOT have issues with people carrying guns (I'm not all, guns kill people, and they should be outlawed). However, I DO have issues with trash and illiterate people carrying guns!  When people use them as a "scare tactic" or "to make themselves look cool", that is when I start getting annoyed.  Guns are meant for your own personal protection, not to be waved around like a toy, like it's nothing.  If misused, guns CAN and WILL kill! Do people realize that when they are waving around their pistols in their photographs online?  Does it make you look tough? No, it makes you look like a moron!  Those who have guns, know the policy, and have respect for them - you will NEVER see them waving a gun at the camera, posing in ridiculous ways with their guns. They would never post a photo that says "Don't f*ck with me, I have a gun!" or some other ridiculous comment that makes them look more dangerous than they actually are. No, They have a higher understanding, appreciation, and respect for the object. They KNOW the right and wrong time to display arms.

This series of photographs found on a public profile on Myspace is what really set me off today... (I would normally "blur" photos or whatever but since it was found on a public myspace, I see it only as being fair game.)

(I added a web link to the profile. Just click the image)

"you wanna get shot by a pink gun..." Oh, so you really want to SHOOT someone? That isn't the reason to carry a gun! To KNOW you want to shoot people! Someone with this mindset SHOULD NOT have a gun!

"I'm a crazy bitch with a gun..." Do you even have a permit to carry!?!?  Awesome, I am so glad you little lady, procreated and had a child and will raise them with the same dumb mindset!

"I don't hesitate..." You don't hesitate?!?!?  Are you law enforment?!?!  No! You SHOULD hesitate to shoot at something! YOU might be killing someone for NO reason! Think twice, act once!

Does anyone else see something totally wrong with these photos? Or, am I just crazy?

The other thing that also bothers me, when I see people in the military/law enforcement taking Myspace photos like they are all “big and bad”. Using government/job issued weapons as props in some Myspace photoshoot! These weapons issued to do a job, they are purchased and paid for an occupation!! Not to post "I'm so awesome because I carry/have/was issued a gun" photos on your Myspace and Facebook. It makes you look like a douchbag! It makes those who actually take their jobs in these fields seriously, to be viewed and seen as “bad”. It means, YOU ARE IN THE WRONG MINDSET FOR THAT CAREER AND YOU NEED TO GTFO (get the f*ck out) before you seriously hurt someone for NO reason!

That's all for today. Ugh!

Yep, I am probably going to get shot now.

/rant.

Thanks for the post. You raise some legitimate points here, however, this could be read as a personal critique. Do you know the MySpace member you've identified in your article?

Is it illigal taking a photo while carrying a gun?

If it is then what if i hang the gun on my back and take a pic but facing the other way with my face out of view, and another one facing the camera but without the gun with my face visible.
