It's a thing of beauty, a breathtaking synchronicity of scenes and characters, and a fabulous conflation of outer space science fiction and shlocky Hawaiian detective work.

Yes, it's Han Solo, P.I. — the scene-for-scene mashup of Magnum P.I. and Star Wars, all set to the unforgettable soundtrack of the opening music from Tom Selleck's finest television hour.

Priceless. And eerily similar.

Tremendous! I had a late 80s flashback in stereo. It just goes to show that Magnum PI bridges space, time... and species. It calls for a feature-length mash-up to rival Alien v Predator.

I'm in love. With the shared cultural conventions of editing and script. Almost seems like one of life's universals. But that would be a pale, sick idea.
