Fans of building things, breaking things, and transforming the everyday devices that surround them have converged on the San Mateo Fairgrounds in Northern California for the Maker Faire...

Yes, that's a fire truck spewing fire out of a hose that's normally reserved for water. Thank you, pyro minded artists from The Crucible, thank you. Today the G-Lab crew was totally wide eyed and giggly when we hit the ground running at Maker Faire in San Mateo. And let me tell you, if you haven't been to a Maker Faire stop whatever it is you're doing (even if that means ceasing play on the Halo 3 Beta) and head on down. It's totally worth it. Electric motorcycles, robot wars, wacky bikes (be sure to check out the Lab's Adrienne So's account of riding every single "crazy ass" bike she could find), redneck pool heaters, quantum mechanics getting pwn3d by a rouge physicist, and even celebs like the Woz and Jimmy Kimmel were spotted mingling among the crowd. It's fantastic, geeky, and completely overwhelming. We managed to hook in with G-Lab pals, Brian Lam and Jason Chen of Gizmodo who, along with Justin of Justin.tv fame, were spinning through the Faire like an unstoppable whirling dervish. But you want to see more of the show don't you? Hit the jump for all the DIY goodness.

The event is put on by the folks at Make:, with whom I have no affiliation but whose work I enjoy.
