Nineteen months after Heath Ledger has passed away, an animated music video for Issaquah band, Modest Mouse, directed by Heath Ledger debuts today on MySpace Music. The video will also be available for iTunes download Friday, Aug. 7.
This music video was made back in January 2007 for Modest Mouse's then unreleased song, "King Rat," which is a bonus track from the band's 2007 album, "We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank." The music video is released at the same time as the band's new EP, "No One's First, And You're Next," is released.
The animated indie collaboration concludes with a dedication to Ledger that reads, “This began with our friend, a great defender of life, and was completed in his spirit.”
It was left unfinished when Ledger died in January 2008, but his company, The Masses, finished the video in his honor. Proceeds from the first month of iTunes video downloads will go toward Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, a nonprofit marine wildlife conservation organization.
The music video is available on MySpace and The Masses.
