Heath Ledger's Last Film Premieres at The Cannes
The final movie of Heath Ledger, the superstar who left us wanting more of his excellent performances , "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus" premiered at The Cannes this year. It was shown out of the competition.
Heath Ledger passed away during the shoot of this movie which made the director Terry Gilliam make changes to the story. He signed on three other stars viz. Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell to complete the movie wherein they played incarnations of Heath Ledger.
His Oscar winning performance in The Dark Knight left us just amazed. The role of 'The Joker' fitted him like a glove.
I take this opportunity to wish peace to his soul and to offer him my sincerest regards for giving us such wonderful memories.
Heath Ledger R.I.P
Director Terry Gilliam has said he would never have completed his fantasy film The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus without Heath Ledger.
"The closing credit says 'By Heath and Friends' because the film changed with his death," Gilliam said as it premiered at the Cannes Film Festival.
"He forced me to make changes and we wouldn't have finished it if it wasn't for Heath."
"Heath was enjoying himself so much and he was ad-libbing a lot, which I don't normally allow... but Heath was just brilliant at it and he got everybody else going," he told AP.
"Everybody was just energised by Heath. He was extraordinary. He was almost exhausting because he had so much energy."
And when Ledger died during Gilliam's latest venture the director said his first thought was to give up.
"Fortunately, I was surrounded by really good people who insisted that... we had to go out and find a way of finishing the film for Heath," he said.

I think a lot of people will see this movie just to see his last film, although I am sure he will be great in it.

Yeah, you're right Amy! Its a pity he is no more. After movies like Dark Knight, I would have loved to see him in more of such wonderful character roles!

His portrayal as the Joker took elements of Stuart Smalley (a fictional character invented and performed by politician and satirist Al Franken) and turned them dark to give an original edge to a familiar villain character. He made everyone forget Jack Nicholson's quite memorable version that he put forward in the 1989, BATMAN ... the first movie of the franchise!
Brilliant ... troubled, but Brilliant.
