Is it foreshadowing or just a coincidence that Heath Ledger filmed a tribute video for a melancholic artist who also overdosed on antidepressants? The mythology practically writes itself.
In the wake of Heath Ledger’s recent death at the age of 28, talks of his obsession with Nick Drake have been rampant, more specially the tribute video Ledger made for the ill-fated British songwriter. The Australian actor directed and starred in the video in the months leading to his death, and he intended it to be used for an exhibition paying tribute to the works of Drake, whose life was also cut short by an overdose of antidepressants.
However, the video has remained relatively unseen by the public, until now. A clip featuring segments of the Ledger’s Black Eyed Dog Nick Drake film has surfaced on YouTube after originally airing on a televised Australian news program. Unfortunately, only bits of the video are available as they are bundled into the newscast with interview clips, which frequently interrupt the film.
In it, though, the haunting scene of Ledger drowning in a tub is shown, packing an eerie emotional punch. Nothing has been announced of when and if the Black Eyed Dog film will be released in its entirety to the public.

Rob Peters, I like this story. It's good stuff. This really is a case of where art imitates life.
