Heathers Movie Sequel Denied by Michael Lehmann
According to director Michael Lehmann, a Heathers sequel is not in the works. I'm devastated.
"Winona brings it up every once in a while and Dan Waters and I will joke about it, but as far as I know there’s no script and no plans to do the sequel," says the director, who spoke to Waters and discovered he doesn't know anything either.
Winona Ryder had stated that she and Christian Slater will both appear in a sequel to the cult hit Heathers, which will be written by Daniel Waters.
The original 1988 film didn't do so hot at the box office, but has enjoyed consistent cult popularity ever since.
Ryder has signed on for the project, as well as Slater, despite the fact he dies in the first film.
Jason Dean is too tough a guy to let his own fiery death stop him from doing the sequel.
"Whatever you hear, there is a sequel in the works. I swear to God," she told the magazine. "But for some reason the writer Dan Waters and director Michael Lehman don't want to talk about it. I've been wanting to do a sequel forever. There is a story, and Christian [Slater] has agreed to come back as a kind of Obi-Wan character."
HeatherLick it up, baby. Lick. It. Up.
I wrote a paper on Heathers for a class in University- when you look closely, you'll find lots of Alice in Wonderland imagery scattered throughout the film.
"Why are you such a megabitch?"
".... Because I can be."
