Have Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt Called it Quits?

According to TMZ on Friday May 28 Heidi Montag (or Heidi Pratt) has indeed split from husband Spencer Pratt and she is even looking for a new place to live in Malibu.

The gossip website reports that Heidi's rep told them:

"Heidi is looking to move out due to all the fake bad press that Spencer controls.  She's tired of it and is looking for a place and wants to focus on her acting career."

It is no secret to anyone that has followed this couple on The Hills and in their numerous media and print appearances, that Spencer really does seem to have some need to control Heidi. There has even been rumors that he has been keeping her away from her family and isolating her in their house filled with crystals and lots of lots of junk. (Recent reports suggested that the two had become hoarders and lived under piles of stuff).

On May 26 Heidi also mysteriously tweeted:

PS: I am not Heidi Pratt, I am Heidi Montag

So could that mean the rumor is actually true?

Stephanie Pratt (Spencer's Sister) gave a statement to Hollyscoop on the alleged break up:

"I hope whether this statement is true or not that they are both happy in whatever life decisions they make."

This news however must be taken with a grain of salt as again, anyone who has followed these two knows that they will pretty much do anything to get in the media spotlight - from Heidi's 10 plastic surgery procedures in one day, to Spencer calling the police on Heidi's mom, to living their lives in front of the MTV cameras, they are no strangers to renewing a rumor to keep the press interested.

So we will wait for more confirmation, but looks like this one may be true - for now anyway.
