Henry J. Bean's Brings Americana To Bangkok, Thailand

Henry J.  Bean’s Bar and Grill is a world-wide franchise offering Tex-Mex and traditional American cuisine, draft beer, live music and a pub atmosphere.  This theme is similar to many in the U.S. and although the décor is basic Americana, this chain of restaurant/bars actually started in England. There are two Henry J. Bean’s in Thailand: one at the Amari Watergate Hotel in Bangkok and one at the Amari Orchid Resort in Pattaya.

The menu staples are burgers, nachos, fajitas, ribs and other basic American chain restaurant food. The portions are large, especially the burgers, and the quality is good making the value for money here also good.

The bric-a-brac, posters and photos all have an American theme albeit an America from the 50s and 60s. And the many television sets throughout play fun video clips, sporting events and music videos. The basic theme behind the restaurant is that Henry J. Bean is an actual person (of course, he's not) and sayings from "Hank," as he's referred to, are on the menu and other places in this large bar/restaurant.

The current live band here is the Melody Band and they play a predictable mix of popular cover from international artists. The daily happy hour is from 6 pm to 7:30 and features different specials. There’s usually a good crowd here that’s a mix of hotel guests, Thais and even some expats. It’s worth a visit if you’re more interested in food than music.

 

The entrance can be entered from the front of the hotel and direct from the street, and is decorated with bric-a-brac, posters and photos taking with the famous visitors back to the fifties and sixties.  There are numerous television sets throughout the restaurant, showing fun video clips, sporting events and musical videos.  This fun venue serves oversized burgers, nachos, fajitas, spareribs and other American food with a wide variety of draught and imported beers from all over the world. A great selection of cocktails is on offer, as well as live music by Melody Band. Daily happy hours are from 18.00 - 19.30 hrs.
