If you are a huge fan of So You Think You Can Dance and you missed Wednesday’s episode, you are out of luck. It was by far the best episode of the season with soul scorching lyrical hiphop routines and sexy samba numbers. Although some of the dancers were not up to par with their competition, it was still a fantastic night overall. Even the judges were left satisfied. The only person that the judges thought should be going home was “Joshua’s dad”.

Yes it was a good night, but I wouldn’t agree with the judges that no one deserved to go home. It became blaringly obvious that many couples confronted the competition head-on while some, unfortunately, lagged behind.

Chelsea T. and Thayne were one of the couples who were not doing so well. Although pulling quickstep out of the hat almost always means a sudden death, it was no excuse for the pair of them to land in the bottom three. Their quickstep routine was absolutely horrible. The lines were just terrible, the footwork was just not there, and they just look a little too bouncy. They were so concentrated on the steps that there was no personality at all. I was left unsatisfied and utterly disappointed. To top it off, Chelsea’s hairstyle was gross. She looked so attractive when her hair was left alone, and putting it into a bun just made her look like a granny. That’s so not cool.

Another couple that completely missed the mark was Chris and Comfort. Comfort is hotstuff in my books. I’ve never EVER seen a female krump better than her. However, the person that I think should get booted would be Chris. Chris was pretty cool when I first saw him in the Vegas auditions; however, he turned into this weird pervert during the first episode for the top twenties. I disliked him right when he wanted to grab Comfort’s “tush” and rubbed her leg when the judges commented on Comfort’s “nice legs”. So, I was pretty happy when they underperformed in their African warrior routine. It’s still so bizarre to me, how can top notch dancers like them mess up a heavy hitting, Tyce Diorio jazz routine? I mean, the choreography was completely off-the-hook. If they were on point, the routine would be absolutely outstanding. I thought it would be an awesome performance when they came out in that animalistic way, but the energy level just died down completely after that. Comfort actually did a respectable job; Chris on the other hand was really weak. I truly believe that Chris was tying Comfort down all these weeks. If Comfort had another partner, she probably wouldn’t be in the bottom three. Overall, the jazz routine was just moves. There was no character and I truly didn’t see them as “warriors”.

I was actually quite surprised when Kourtni and Matt landed in the bottom three (I was actually expecting Courtney and Gev there). Kourtni and Matt’s contemporary routine was so much better in terms of entertainment and execution than Courtney and Gev’s satisfactory Rumba. I actually liked Sonya Tayeh’s choreography. It is so weird and quirky that I burst out laughing in the middle of it (especially during the part where Kourtni and Matt sat on the steps and started to bobble their heads). It was hilarious. I thought it was one of the four outstanding performances of the night. The other ones would include: Twitchington’s HipHop routine, Chelsie H. and Mark’s HipHop routine and definitely Joshua and Katee’s hot and sexy Samba. Funny, these three couples are my favourites too.

Choreographer of the night:

Napoleon and Tabitha – Their HipHop routines were absolutely fantastic. Twitchington performed a “burglar” routine that was smart, witty and amusing. The highlight, however, was the Workaholic and “girlfriend” routine. It grabbed my heart and in Adam Shankman’s words, “it made me feel horrible about [their] situation”. The routine was about a workaholic that had no time for his girlfriend. Performed to Bleeding Love by Leona Lewis, it was a truly moving piece of art. The way Mark “stole” Chelsie’s heart really felt like he grabbed it away. The performance was exceptional.

I know I haven’t commented on Will and Jessica’s routine, and I’m going to. Usually I do not like Doriana Sanchez’s routines, but this week was alright for me. Jessica definitely stepped it up a notch, and Will never failed to entertain. Will is so good at everything that it’s scary. In a way, he made Disco more fun than it usually is. His performances were perfection.

By the way, check out Mia Michaels' top 16 routine if you have time. It is quite interesting.

If you don’t watch So You Think You Can Dance, you’re really missing out. I highly recommend this show to everyone. Stay tuned for next week’s results.

good stuff:

Heiky, I like this story. It's good stuff. Great summary!  I hope you keep us all up to date with the future episodes.  I'm glad Chris and Chelsea got eliminated - I hope Thayne goes home next week as his cheesy smile is really getting on my nerves.
