Hilary Swank is set to play Amelia Earhart.

Hilary Swank is scheduled to play Amelia Earhart in “Amelia,” a biopic that will be directed by Mira Nair, according to Variety.com.

The picture is set to begin production in April, and will be financed by Ted Wiatt through his Avalon Pictures.

Waitt will also produce “Amelia” with Avalon-affiliated Kevin Hyman and Lydia Dean Pilcher, Pilcher being Nair’s partner in production.

It is reported that Bass delivered the script just before the Writers Guild of America’s strike began, and he used multiple books to base his script off of, including: Susan Butler’s “East to the Dawn,” Mary Lovell’s “The Sound of the Wings” and Elgin Long’s “Amelia Earhart: The Mystery Solved.”

Swank was tapped to star in “Amelia” late in 2007, and Nair became available after Warner Bros. Postponed “Shantaram,” the Johnny Depp feature. Swank will play Earhart in the shaping portion of her career, and the storyline revolves around the time where George Putnam looked for a female pilot to fly around the world and turned Earhart’s flight into a media event.

The image I posted (Amelia Earhart and her flight around the world) part of a series presented in PKN4.

This specific proyect wanted to recreate the images+feeling of the historical period in which Amelia Earhart's flight around the world took place.
My project ended with a photoetching of an event that never happened, Amelia Earhart hovering over my home town.

Let's hope the movie is a real development of Amelia's intriguing character, and not one of those hallmark channel bio movies...
