It's the patriarchy system handed down by the Hindu tradition ( beginning 300 A.D.) causing the maltreatment of children and women. Also, such traditions, whether one coverts to Christians or any other religions, Hindu tradition is so ingrained into one's culture that seems to affect their thinking even after the conversion.
