Last night New Yorkers had a taste of Canada in Bryant Park during the tree lighting ceremony. This is the fourth year in a row that the Canadian Tourism Commission (CTC) has paired up with New York for the Canada in New York campaign. This includes ice skating at the Pond at Bryant Park, a Canadian-inspired menu at adjacent Celsius café and a special tree-lighting ceremony to entertain and enlighten New Yorkers and tourists about Canada, Alberta and Quebec.
One highlight is sure to be the lighting of a 15.5-m (51-ft) high balsam fir tree imported from Quebec. The tree will be decorated with 30,000 white lights and 3,000 sparkling ornaments overlooking "The Pond", a 100 foot by 170 foot ice skating rink.
The performers included The Barenaked Ladies along with Olympic Gold Medalist David Pelletier & Jamie Sale. The very talented Haydenettes, a sychronized ice skating team of 21 young woemn ages 17-24. Specail apperances from Jennifer Robinson. The Canadian Tenors along with te Canadian Brass. The evening ended with a Aerial Acrobatic act high above the pond by Hollywood Aerial Arts.
