To all my people out there with style and grace. Its that time of year that NBHHCM (National Basketball & Hip-Hop Culture Month) 2K11 put some flavor in your ear. Summer's here, The NBA Finals just got underway, its a hoops and hip-hop thing that here to stay.

For the 3rd year now since 2009 when the calendar turns to June that means its National Basketball & Hip-Hop Culture Month.

What makes this year even more special is that the NBA will be turning 65. The NBA (National Basketball Association) born on June 6, 1946 in New York City will be celebrating its 65th Anniversary of being formed on June 6, 2011 during NBHHCM 2K11.

NBHHCM also will pay homage to the 35th Anniversary of the NBA/ABA Merger of 1976. The merger announced on June 17, 1976 will be celebrating its 35th Anniversary on June 17, 2011. 11-days after the NBA at 65 on June 6th.

NBHHCM is a time to observe the history, legacy, and evolution of hoops and hip-hop culture in America. Its also a time honor the history of the game and those who have made basketball one of the most popular sports in the world.

2011 has some historical 25th Anniversary milestones in hip-hop with the debut of some of the genre's legendary pioneers Eric B. & Rakim, Salt-n-Pepa, and Doug E. Fresh.

NBHHCM will also honor the 40th birthday of Tupac Shakur. Tupac was born June 16, 1971. Shakur is considered one of the greatest rappers of all-time. He will be forever linked to Notorious B.I.G. and NBHHCM 2K11 has dedicated June 16th as "Biggie & Tupac" Day during NBHHCM.

Tupac shares a birthday with "Dr. Dunkenstein" Darrell Griffith who was a hi-flying guard during the 1980's that led the University of Louisville to a National Championship. He was also a participant in the first-ever NBA Slam Dunk Contest in 1984.

NBHHCM will also honor the "NBA 30-for-30" as each of the 30 NBA teams will have a day dedicated to them during the 30-days of June.

June 1st is dedicated to the Boston Celtics. The NBA all-time leader with 17 NBA Championships and is one of 2 NBA teams from the "Original 11" that is in their original team city. The New York Knicks are the other team.

NBHHCM will continue to promote its "Read To Succeed" program. Its an attempt to get more kids from K-12 to obtain library cards during NBHHCM.
