Major motion picture actress Demi Moore did it for her role in "G.I. Jane." Stage and film actress Anne Hathaway introduced the shaver to her head for the big screen adaptation of "Les Misérables."

Now fashion model-turned-actress Charlize Theron is sporting the bold look for her starring portrayal of Furiosa in "Mad Max: Fury Road," an action-adventure film currently in pre-production.

For those who live outside Tinseltown who have been watching Theron strut red-carpet events in Hollywood recently to promote her last two box-office hits, "Prometheus" and "Snow White and the Huntsman," it may have been a bit shocking to see the 36-year-old stunner sans her signature long hair.

But it is a different viewpoint in The Entertainment Capital of the World, a place where serious actors put their heads, so to speak, into their chosen craft and the dramatic character roles they play.
