homeless, day 1

i broke my right arm saturday, and so i am typing one handed, hence no capital letters, so bear with me.

i got a whole 1hr, 7 min sleep last night, thinking about what today would bring and all the resulting problems of being homeless. weird part is, for some strange reason, the song playing in my head, repeating over and over, was "ohhh.ohh say can you seeeeee, by the dawns early light....etc". and when i got to the part about, "oh the ramparts we watched" i kept wondering if l.a.p.d.'s rampart division was named for the notoriously violent area it patrols.

i'm trying to raise money to drive did me, and all the stuff i was able to take to north carolina where i have a job and a place to stay waiting for me. so seeing as how i will see a lot of country enroute, i'm surprised "america the beautiful" isn't the song that was running through my addled mind. sure america is scenically beautiful, but we do have some serious issues.

i went up to the forest land to check out sleep areas, and decided those are a last resort only. i went to the store and heard from a manager that i can sleep in their lot. so i did.  it was uncomfortable to say the least, but i get some sleep. no one disturbed me, especially the cops.

i seem to get songs stuck in my head, and last night was no different. "mellow yellow" ran amok in my head because i had run across my friend who told me that the manager of the mobile home park wanted to talk to me today. so i knew i'd have to put on my mellow yellow facade for the meet. he said i have 15 days from yesterday to salvage the rest of my stuff. so i went to see my neighbor who is being nice enough to store my stuff for me, and he is going to try to sell my waterbed for me, and a good oil heater aka monitor heater. he can get enough for it to consider starting my trip to north carolina.

at my doc appointment yesterday i got a referral to an orthopedist tomorrow who will decide if i need surgery or just a cast. if just a cast, i'll get it the same day.

it has now been 25 hrs since i got locked out, i'm almost out of gas, and i am out of money. i only have $5 left on food stamps till the 9th. today at 1 i will borrow a shower, and my neighbor said i can use his whenever, which is good because he can bag my arm for me.

i'm off to go shower, i'll try to post updates daily.
