i went to several friends who didn.t know i was now homeless and told them what is going on and what forms of "passive" help i could use, mainly a place i can park my car for a few hrs sleep and then move on. no one was able to help.
so that was a waste of gas to go see those people.
i was thinking last night about things i now have to do differently that people in homes or
apartments take for granted. unless i am actually at some place that has a bathroom i can
use, it costs me money to go to the john. i have to spend gas to drive to a public toilet.
that's an expensive squat. being one handed now, even tougher.
getting a drink of water. i have to keep a bottle with me.
going to bed, you just go to your room. i have to first find a parking lot where the cops
won't hassle me, then i have to climb over the back seat and bend my legs into an l shape at
the knees, cover up, wrap the blanket around me, (ok, so some of you with beds do that last one too) and stack stuff up in front of the side and back windows to keep light and peering eyes out, and then try to sleep. and do it all one handed.
you want to blow your nose. i don't have any kleenex, so i have to (one handed) hold a roll
of TP, let the first sheet out, hold it between the steering wheel and my belly and pull the
other two sheets out and then "tear along dotted line".
and it may be almost mid june, but no one told mother nature that, it's bloody cold and
windy. one would almost think that this may be one of those years that we may get snow on
july 4th. it's happened before!! this makes sleeping in the car all that much more
depressing and awkward. it wouldn't be quite as bad if i had 2 good arms at the moment.
you turn on the heater, mine costs me gas money to run the car.
you go to the fridge to get a snack or cook a meal. i don't get to cook or even make a
sandwich.
you pick up a phone to make a call, i have to go use a friend's phone.
most services that a person with a home uses, are open 7 days a week. some services i rely
on for basic needs are closed sat/sun or just sun.
i honestly think that everyone should go through what i am at least for a week, so they not
only learn survival tricks that they may very well soon need, but also that it will make
people more aware of even just the little things they can do to help those effected by bush
economics.
there are other things that are different too but i can't think of any offhand. i may not be
able to post sunday, and maybe monday too. i have surgery scheduled for 1:30 p.m. monday.
my laptop decided not to recognize my cell again, so no new pics.
going to close for now, if anyone wants to help out....contact me at

master_jim2008, I hope the surgery goes well on Monday. Why wouldn't your friends help you? That's not fair...
