last night went somewhat easier. the temp was much milder and lots less wind. also i tried a new tactic with my bedding, and it seemed to work better. i slept from 11-6:30. the grocery store tries to open early when they can and today i got in at 6:40 to use the restroom and obtain some food. i also found vitanin water on sale, 10/10.00 and i tried one. they're not too shabby. good thing i like it, because where i'm eventually going to end up, they drink that stuff.
today is surgery day. the swelling has gone down sufficiently. they are putting in a 4" plate. now, i know my doc is most excellent, but one still had to wonder about all the what ifs. friend of mine in the same hospital, had elbow surgery, they wheeled him to his car, he stood up and keeled over, dead from a clot. so.....yeah, one has to consider the possibilities.
i will hurt a great deal tonight, but at least i should be able to shower and change.
last night i talked to another homeless person, and i can see why people are increasingly reluctant to help the homeless. this young guy, has obviously been thrown away by society, however i fear drugs also played a part in his demise. he talked like a tweeker. he couldn't construct intelligable sentences. it was very sad. i gave him half a tube of my ritz crackers.
it is amazing what tv does to the mind. in the past week, i have had sooo much time to just sit and think and observe my surroundings and the actions of others. all things that i wouldn't have done had i been glued to a tv or computer screen all day. i used to drive a city transit bus, and i used to use that as my observation chamber, all sort of captive subjects to study in the mirror.
i need to reconnect with my skills of observation.
surgery is at 1:30 lots to do before then, so i'm going to cut this short. not sure when i will feel up to being on again.

master_jim2008, I like this story. It's good stuff.
Thanks for posting this.
I hear lots of terrible things about health care in the USA. I'm curious about how accurate that assessment is.
How much is your surgery costing? How long did you have to wait? Do you have insurance?
Good luck with the surgery.
