John Osnes, a 55 year old jazz pianist slapped Jassy's rented SUV with his hands after Jassy ran too close to him in the crosswalk. Upset about Osnes slapping his vehicle, Jassy jumped out of his SUV and punched Osnes in the face, knocking him down to the ground. While Osnes was bent down, trying to recover his glasses, Jassy violently kicked Osnes in the head. When several people tried to restrain Jassy, he broke free and got back behind the wheel of his SUV and ran over Osnes bent over body, crushing him in the street. Osnes died late Sunday in a hospital. Arrested Monday, after authorities traced the rented vehicle's license plates, Jassy is now in custody facing $1 million in bail. His arraignment was delayed because the Swedish rapper needed an interpreter. Note to interpreter: Teach him his new name which is "Dumb bitch-ass punk" and get this fool out of our country!

I hope he gets life in prison. He clearly intended to KILL Osnes. I love his middle name, Moses. What a joke. He's a punk who will soon learn what it is like to the one who is dominated. He will be popular in prison. Then he won't think it's so cool to attack those who weaker than us. I hope that he get attacked every day of his sentence. You'll soon find out that you aren't as tough as you think. Karma is a bee---yotch.

Please give this guy a trial in the US so he can get a REAL punishment and not a few cozy years in a Swedish prison with free education, internet. Real hard time should be served or worse -- if permitted. Some crimes are NOT excusable!

Jassy is not Swedish -- not ethnically. He is a citizen of Sweden, yes, but he is Gambian and Estonian. Calling him Swedish is simply misleading.

Jassy is not a real hip hop artist--not ethically speaking.
(Unfortunately, I've never heard of him in the U.S. and I've been into Hip Hop music for years) Its so disgusting to see negativity associated with Hip Hop's positive attributes. This is an embarrassment and tragedy to the hip hop community and the whole world at large.

Please make up your mind cuz you sound as stupid as you probably are. In three sentences you manage to label the guy as swedish, gambian and estonian. His father is gambian and the mother estonian but David was born and raised in sweden and is holding a swedish passport and that makes him swedish.

If I were to be born in India, Japan, Indonesia, China, Ethiopia or anywhere else, I would not be considered to be one of them.
Why is it different in Sweden? Just because it's more a political correct country who doesn't dare look at the real problems that immigration is causing them both culturally, ethnically and in terms of economy?
He may be borned and raised in Sweden, but he is not Swedish. A swedish citizen, now, thats something more appropriate.
By the way, ethnicity does play a role in Sweden, but it's mostly the foreigners who attack the swedes rather than the opposite.
Cities like Rosengaard, Malmoe should ring a bell. Yes? Lots of foreign-looking people wanting to beat up a Swede or two because they're an easy target. Fighting back would only result to more fights or racist accusations.

And lastly; Comparing Sweden with USA is inappropriate as both countries are very different in terms of nationalities. Sweden is a homeland while USA has becomed this immigrant-land. USa is the only example you can compare other countries to as the rest of the world are homelands with an established ethnic culture and history.

ok, so what is a "pure" swede then? when does someone qualify as a swede? am i a swede? i'm blonde and blue-eyed, look like adolf hitlers wet dream. what about my friend who is dark, has black hair, looks like he was born in turkey. both of us are half swedish and half non-swedish... he's half turkish, i'm half american. both of us are born and raised in sweden. we consider ourselves swedes and no one would ever doubt it.

That´s why the Racebiological Institute was founded in 1922 in Uppsala, Sweden, which by the way, was the first institute of it´s kind, in the world. Individuals who were biologically "less worth" were sterilized in accordance with a law that came into effect in 1935. Between 1935 and 1976, when the law was abandoned, 63000 people were sterilized. Many of these individuals were people belonging to ethnic minority groups such as the sami people and romani people (so called gypsies). A man called Adolf Hitler got many of his ideas from this swedish template and "refined" them and thus created "the final solution."

This is how swedes were thinking when the swedish government allowed Hitler to pass through Sweden with stolen norwegian minerals (mainly iron) which he used to build tanks and other weapons that killed so many brave non-swedes, that had the guts to stand up against that nasty murderous dictator. But I guess that you are too ignorant to understand that even gambians died in World War 2 ( yes black africans fought in that war in Europe) for your right to express mind freely today.

Does anyone know the name of the prosecutor in this case? Jassys lawyer is trying to make a case out of a supposedly previously clean record, but from what i understand he spent some time in jail during the ninties for a brutal robbery. No references have been made to this in American press and I am wondering if the prosecutor is even aware of it.

I am one of those non-Swedish individuals who was raised in Sweden but of non-European descent. I am middle-aged and have lived in the United States since 1978, with the exception of having spent 2005-06 in Stockholm to take care of a sick friend. All I can say is that David Moses Jassy may be a Swedish citizen and live culturally as a Swede, but he will never be accepted as a Swede by those of ethnically Scandinavian descent. And that may be at the root of his problematic and destructive behavior. Racism in Sweden is very different from racism in the US, because Sweden is inherently a different country with a vastly different cultural character. In Sweden, there is the "official fiction" that all citizens of Sweden are treated equally; meanwhile, nothing could be further from the truth. I would venture to say that Mr. Jassy has had a pretty rotten childhood with discrimination and prejudice, and has had a chip on his shoulder the size of Nebraska for a very long time. Granted, this is not an excuse for his heinous crime; I just want to point out that he has lived with racism that is being OFFICIALLY DENIED at every turn. The US confronts its racism on a daily basis and is trying to do something about it; in Sweden, complacency, fear and provincialism rules. Add to that lack of economic opportunity and employment for immigrants (studies show that if you have a non-Swedish name, you rarely get to a first interview, despite graduate education - try that on for size in the US, with all its non-Anglo names and successful people), in addition to discrimination (forget about skin color, having black hair and brown eyes is enough to bar you from entering night clubs!?!), and you have a powder keg very similar to the situation in France. Except in Sweden, life is so incredibly segregated that immigrants just rot slowly from depression in the million-man suburbs. So really - NO - David Jassy is not Swedish, at least not by Swedish cultural and unofficial standards. And that's probably why he was trying to make a life for himself here, just like so many of us who eventually were fed up with personal experiences of racism, while the Swedish government still keeps touting the country's fictional color blindness. Again, this does NOT excuse his crime; in fact, I'm hoping he WON'T be repatriated to Sweden, since Swedish prisons are among the cushiest and most comfortable in the world. I hope he gets a murder conviction and remains in the California State Prison for decades to come.
